Modernizing Billing and Revenue Operations for a Global Healthcare Organization

Image

SUMMARY

A $1B+ global healthcare and medical devices enterprise engaged Ravus in a multi-year initiative to unify billing, CPQ, and revenue operations across four legal entities — replacing spreadsheet-driven processes and manual workarounds inherited from years of rapid growth and acquisition activity. Ravus led the full technical transformation: BillingPlatform as the centralized system of record for billing and revenue recognition, Salesforce CPQ configuration and enhancement, bi-directional integration between CPQ and BillingPlatform via the native Salesforce Connector, and a NetSuite integration for invoice delivery and financial close. Deployed in phases across four legal entities, the solution improved close timelines, recovered material revenue leakage, and reduced manual invoicing across the organization.

— Global Process Owner, Order to Cash

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The client engaged Ravus in a multi-year initiative to unify SaaS offerings, processes, and technology across the lead-to-cash lifecycle. The objective was to support continued growth, align acquired businesses, improve operational efficiency, and transition from fragmented business units to a single, scalable operating model.

A key outcome was the execution of a cohesive SaaS strategy by consolidating multiple businesses into a unified operating framework. This approach reduced manual, duplicative work, and lowered technology costs associated with maintaining disparate platforms.

Ravus led the technical delivery, owning the design and implementation of a fully automated quote-to-cash architecture. This included implementation of BillingPlatform as the system of record for billing and revenue, configuration and enhancement of Salesforce CPQ, integration of CPQ with BillingPlatform via the native BillingPlatform Salesforce Connector, and delivery of the NetSuite–BillingPlatform integration to support invoice delivery, financial reporting, and financial close.

The solution was deployed across four legal entities using a phased rollout to maintain operational stability and ensure a seamless customer experience.

The Challenge

Fragmented Billing, Manual Workarounds, and Revenue Risk Across a Multi-Entity Enterprise

Rapid growth and multiple acquisitions left the client with fragmented systems and numerous non-standard contracting arrangements. Order management, billing, and finance teams relied heavily on spreadsheets and manual workarounds to support day-to-day operations.

These inefficiencies extended financial close cycles by weeks and introduced risk into revenue validation and reporting through error-prone, manual processes.

The Solution

Unifying Quote-to-Cash Across BillingPlatform, Salesforce CPQ, and NetSuite for Four Legal Entities

Ravus led the technical transformation by aligning business requirements with scalable system design and industry best practices across BillingPlatform, Salesforce CPQ, and NetSuite.

BillingPlatform was implemented as the centralized billing and revenue engine, replacing fragmented, spreadsheet-driven usage rating and invoicing processes. The platform was designed and configured to support complex SaaS pricing models originating in Salesforce CPQ, standardized billing schedules, and consistent revenue recognition rules across product lines.

Ravus also architected and delivered bi-directional integrations between Salesforce CPQ and BillingPlatform, ensuring approved quotes, pricing, and contract terms were accurately executed in downstream billing.

The resulting architecture delivered end-to-end visibility across the quote-to-cash lifecycle, significantly reduced manual effort, and established a scalable, enterprise-grade operating model capable of supporting growth without linear increases in complexity or headcount.

A phased rollout enabled early stabilization and value realization while onboarding additional entities over time. Throughout implementation, Ravus identified and resolved legacy process gaps, billing inconsistencies, and integration issues—correcting sources of revenue leakage and strengthening system reliability.

Results & Impacts

Outcomes: Faster Financial Close, Recovered Revenue Leakage, and a Scalable Billing Foundation Across Four Entities

The BillingPlatform implementation delivered measurable improvements across finance and revenue operations:

  • Improved close timelines through increased automation and more consistent processes
  • Closed material revenue leakage by correcting contracting and invoicing gaps, recovering MRR and mitigating future scale risk
  • Reduced reliance on manual invoicing, allowing teams to spend more time on review and analysis
  • Fewer billing issues, contributing to improved invoice accuracy
  • A more scalable billing and revenue foundation to future growth without proportional increases in operational effort
By combining deep technical execution with a business-first mindset, Ravus delivered a multi-entity transformation that produced measurable impact and provided the client with a platform built to scale.
